<< Back to "Your Voice" Archive“YOUR VOICE”Support Rational and Meaningful Environmental Controls The environment of this Earth belongs to all of us. We are all responsible for the safekeeping of the Earth we call home. This responsibility is an act we all must practice at every moment of our lives. But, the protection of the Earth is our responsibility, not the legislative command of a governmental institution. We, as citizens, can preserve this environment without the imposition of higher authority. We can keep our roads clean, we can pick up the trash, and we can recycle our waste through our own personal initiative. We do not need the government to tell us to do these things. We can do them ourselves because we believe that the earth is worth preserving for our children and our grand-children, and our great-grand-children. It is our obligation as thoughtful humans to keep our land and our streams clean. We know how to do this; we know how to provide water to our cattle without fouling the streams. The governmental programs that impose restrictions upon us, and create difficulties for our operations are artifices of inattention. No one is controlling the pollution created by the lawn-mowers of the suburbs, no one is legislating against the pollution created by the city suburban transit morass that exists around every city, the government isn’t doing a thing to control the waste and pollution of the population centers and major cities of the country. That’s because that is where the voters are congregated. Those of us in the country are just easy targets. It is time to tell the government to focus attention where the real problems are, not on the easy targets. Rural citizens know how to protect the Earth, we have been doing it for generations, we do not need imposition. Let’s turn attention toward the real problem areas, the cities of our nation, which consume everything and produce nothing but crime, congestion, misery and sorrow. As your representative I will defend your right to be a thoughtful and resourceful individual for protection of the environment, to do it yourselves because you know that it is right, without the control of governmental bureaucracy. Cast your vote this November for open and honest representation. Write-In:
