What is this column “Your Voice” all about, and why is it important to your choice for a Representative to the House of Representatives from the First Congressional District of West Virginia? Why am I putting myself forward for that position, and why am I running as an Independent candidate in a country that works on the two-party system? This campaign is “Your” campaign. My objective is to listen to you and your concerns and then put those concerns into a solution plan that can be implemented for our benefit. I have no agenda of my own; I have no personal ax to grind here. Most politicians spend all of their time trying to preserve their position, to get re-elected, to secure a job. I do not need to do any of those things. I have a full time job as a farmer and it keeps me busy from sun-up to sun-down and a bit more. My only objective is to raise national attention to the issues that you all face here in West Virginia every day, to bring the bright light of reality to bear upon our lives and the vales that we hold dear. I am here to listen and to interpret. That is what “Your Voice” is all about. These are the issues that you have expressed to me and that frustrate you in your lives. These issues need attention and they are not getting any attention from our current administrations. I love my farm, I love my livestock; I am a thoroughly happy (if not prosperous) farmer. Bit, if and when the time comes to serve this state, I will set aside the beauty of my farm for as long as it takes to bring some reason and order to the problems we all face. I am an “Independent.” I owe no allegiance to political party, to funding agencies, to publicity, not to anyone but to you, the concerned voter of the state of West Virginia. We, you and I, hold a common bond, the bond of honesty, truth and commitment to a better life for us all. That is what “Your Voice” is all about. Your Voice is the only one that counts.
